Electronic Communications

We may communicate with you electronically, including by email, SMS, telehealth, or secure messaging, where appropriate and with your consent.

In accordance with the RACGP Standards for general practices (5th edition), we take reasonable steps to protect the privacy and confidentiality of your health information. Before sending electronic communications, we will confirm the intended recipient and contact details and consider whether electronic communication is appropriate for the information being provided.

Electronic communication carries privacy and security risks, including the possibility that information may be misdirected, intercepted, accessed by another person or inadvertently disclosed. We will advise you of these risks and obtain your consent before sending health information electronically. Consent may be implied where you initiate electronic communication with the practice.

Some sensitive information may not be communicated electronically and may require discussion with a GP or other appropriate health professional.

Communications received from or sent to you that relate to your care, together with any action taken, may be recorded in your health record.

If you contact us by email, please allow 1 business day for a response. Email and electronic messaging should not be used for urgent or emergency medical matters. In an emergency, call 000 or seek immediate medical attention.
